Plantation Shutters

Rural Blinds & Flooring supply and install Talltimba plantation shutters.

TallTimba Shutters are made using a variety of materials.

Basswood

Plantation grown Basswood (tilia americana), has become one of the most widely used materials for shutters and timber blinds in the global market. This is due to its resistance to warping, easy workability, durability and its acceptance of a variety of finishes. The use of Basswood for musical instruments including guitars and piano soundboards reinforce its properties as a stable and reliable timber.

Fauxwood

Perfect for wet areas, our Fauxwood product won't crack, peel or warp meaning bathrooms and over kitchen sinks pose no problem. Whilst fauxwood is not warranted for heavily wet areas, it is ideal where mositure or occassional water repellant properties are required. Fauxwood is also fire retardent and termite resistant.

Some of the same designer colours are available in both finishes, meaning you can co-ordinate your home regardless of the situation.

Types of Shutters

Hinged Shutters

Hinged Shutters account for the majority of shutters ordered, and are most commonly used in windows and narrow doorways. They can be ordered with a range of framing to suit the style of home or practicality of the window, and are the most versatile configuration of shutters with a wide range of options to choose from to suit almost every situation.

In most cases hinged shutters can fold back onto the wall leaving no intrusion into the room, whilst still providing an open clear view.

Bifolding Shutters

Bifold Shutters allow an almost unobtruded view through the window when pulled back, making them a favourite when trying to make the most of what the outdoors has to offer.

Bifolds are generally used over doorways, with up to 8 panels being used on a single opening. They are also ideal as room dividers and robe and pantry doors.

When installing Bifolds, alternative frame methods can be used depending on whether the shutters can fit inside the reveal, or whether they need to be face fitted.

Sliding Shutters

Sliding Shutters are a great alternative for wide windows, and their ease of operation make them ideal for high traffic areas. By using a smooth tracking system, sliders are more 'child friendly' than Bifold Shutters, and can be made to cater for any width opening.

Alternatively, sliding panels can be joined at the sides to have multiple panels move in one sliding motion. Cavity sliders can be catered for providing tracking is installed prior to walls being erected.
